Four scenarios: The EU and the East in 2030

The Information and Documentation Center on NATO in the Republic of Moldova attended on the 15th of May 2015 the round table on the topic “Four scenarios: The EU and the East in 2030” organized by the Friedrich-Ebert Foundation in Moldova.

During the round table were discussed the future relations between the EU, the Russian Federation and the countries of the East partnership. During the event was launched the report the EU and the East in 2030: Four scenarios for the relation between the EU, the Russian Federation and their common neighbors.

The report was done by a Group of Scenarios, established in 2014, from 20 experts from 12 countries. They were invited by the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Berlin to develop through common efforts possible pathways for the EU and its neighbors. The deep crisis that marks the relations between the European Union and the Russian Federation raised fundamental questions regarding the EU’s politics towards the East Europe.

What will be the nature of the EU, the Russian Federation and the Partnership for East countries’ relations in the future? What are the possible and most likely to happen scenarios? The group developed four scenarios as presented in the report.
