International Conference “NATO Summit in Warsaw: Tackling New Threats”

Information and Documentation Centre on NATO in Moldova in cooperation with (Polish Embassy) Republic of Poland Embassy in Moldova (NATO Contact Point) and NATO Public Diplomacy Division is organizing the International Conference “NATO Summit in Warsaw: Tackling New Threats”, that will be held on 12th of Mai, in Chisinau, Codru Hotel.

The conference is the most significant activity of NATO Week 2016, an annual project organized by Information and Documentation Centre on NATO aimed at raising public awareness about NATO and providing first-hand information about NATO-Moldova partnership.

The Conference’s main topic will focus on NATO priorities for the upcoming Warsaw Summit (8-9 July, 2016) in the context of changing European Security Environment. The goal of the conference is to discuss the new challenges we face today and the arising opportunities for cooperation from regional and national perspectives.

Among the issues of high-interest are:
– The emerging East-West dichotomy;
– Development of a new approach to Russia’s maverick international behaviour;
– NATO and EU relationship in the context of changing security paradigm and implications for the Eastern Partnership countries;
– Tackling new asymmetric and hybrid security threats encountered by NATO members and non-aligned countries like Moldova, Ukraine and Georgia;
– Building a stronger and more efficient security cooperation in the region.

The Conference will be attended by national and international experts, representatives of state institutions, accredited international organizations and diplomatic missions, civil society, academia and mass media. It will give the opportunity to exchange ideas and share perspectives regarding the current security developments and enhance confidence and credibility among partners in the age of increasing uncertainty.
