Press conference regarding the launch of the project “Capacity building of journalists in reflecting topics related to security and the cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and NATO”

Today, on the 30th of March, IDC on NATO launched during a press conference the training course for journalists regarding capacity building in reflecting topics on security and the cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and NATO.

At the open conference of the courses were held speeches by Mr. Viorel Cibotaru, the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Moldova, Ms. Alla Roșca – lecturer, and Ms. Elena Mârzac, the director of the Information and Documentation Center on NATO from the Republic of Moldova. The speakers praised the IDC’s NATO initiative of organizing a training course for journalists in the domain of security, highlighting the importance of independent and well informed press in a democratic society and within the rule of law system.

During the second part of the conference, the journalists had the possibility to address questions to the speakers. The attention of the mass-media representatives was captured by the presence of the Mr. Minister of Defence to whom were addressed the majority of the questions. During these discussions were approached many current topics on security, such as the training level of the national army, the propaganda element of the civil war and the methods of preventing it, information, the new ideology of state defence, etc.

After the official opening of the conference, followed the presentation of the courses program that will last until the 3th of April.  These courses will unfold within the project “Capacity building of  journalists in reflecting the topics related to security and the cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and NATO” which IDC on NATO is currently implementing.
