Roundtable on the topic „The crisis in Ukraine and it’s consequences for NATO’s Partnerships”

On May 13th, the Information and Documentation Centre on NATO organized a roundtable on the topic “Crisis in Ukraine and its impact on NATO Partnerships” with the participation of local and foreign experts, representatives of the civil society as well as academics. The event was held within the framework of the “NATO Week in Moldova” implemented by the IDC on NATO, the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova.

The main guests at this event were the lecturers Valeriy Kravchenko and Andriy Karakuts from Donetsk National University, as well as Igor Chernov, director of the Center for Information on International Security in Volgograd. The discussions between experts on the topic of the Ukrainian crisis and the consequences it has on the Moldovan and Ukrainian cooperation with NATO within the “Partnership for Peace” Programme lasted more than two hours. An important aspect of its debates refers to our country, especially to the imminent danger of a possible Russian aggression in Moldova, following the same script that could be observed in Georgia and Ukraine. Another important topic of discussion was based on the “referendum” in the eastern regions of Ukraine. Both local experts, as well as the IDC on NATO guests stressed the illegal and unconstitutional nature of the so called referendum.
