20 years since the Partnership for Peace was launched: The “NATO – Partnership for Peace – the Republic of Moldova” official book release and the “The Moldova – NATO Partnership in pictures” photo exhibition

On May 16th, the public event on the topic “20 years of the Partnership for Peace” was held at the History and Culture Centre of the Army. Within this event, the official release of the  “NATO- Partnership for Peace – the Republic of Moldova” book took place, as well as a photo exhibition titled “The Moldova – NATO Partnership in pictures”.

 

The event was organized by the Information and Documentation Center on NATO in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence, within the framework of the “NATO Week in Moldova” project. The event was attended by representatives of state institutions, ambassadors, servicemen and local and foreign experts on security issues.

 

The event began with an opening speech delivered by the Defence Minister, Valeriu Troenco, who referred to the results and benefits of the mutual cooperation between Moldova and NATO during the last 20 years. Following the opening remarks, the colonel Vitalie Ciobanu – Director of the History and Culture Centre of the Army, presented his book “NATO – Partnership for Peace – the Republic of Moldova”. Mr. Ciobanu, the author of this collection of studies and documents, made a retrospective analysis of the path of collaboration between Moldova and NATO during the last 20 years.

The special guests delivered short speeches on the topic of the event; among them were Georgi Stefanov, the representative of the Bulgarian Embassy, Mr. Viorel Cibotaru, director of the European Institute for Political Studies, co-founder of IDC on NATO in Moldova, and Mr. Victor Gaiciuc, former Minister of Defence of the Republic of Moldova.

 

At the end, there participants were invited to attend the photo gallery entitled “The Moldova – NATO partnership in pictures”.
