Alexander Vershbow’s public lecture: The myths and benefits of NATO partnerships

On May 13, Mr. Vershbow – the Deputy Secretary General of NATO, during his visit to Chisinau delivered a public lecture on the topic “The Myths and Benefits of NATO partnerships” at the Comrat State University. The event was organized by the Information and Documentation Centre on NATO in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova.

 

The lecture was held in Russian language and it was attended by students and members of teaching staff. Mr. Vershbow spoke about the cooperation between Moldova and NATO within the “Partnership for Peace” Programme, stressing the importance of the non-military aspects of this collaboration. The audience showed great interest on these issues; there have been many questions about the cooperation between Moldova and NATO, including discussions regarding the disposal of the pesticides, science and research joint projects, the terrorism threat, and the current situation in Ukraine.

 

Alexander Vershbow visited Moldova between the 12th and 14 of May in order to participate at “NATO Week” events.
