Information Point on NATO was opened at the State University from Comrat

On the 4th of May IDC on NATO, in cooperation with the Embassy of Turkey in the Republic of Moldova, opened the Information and Documentation Point on NATO within the university from Comrat.

The event was attended by the Dean of the University from Comrat, Missis Zinaida Aricova, the director of the IDC on NATO, Elena Mârzac and Missis Alla Roșca, founding member of IDC on NATO. The opening event was attended as well by H. E. Mr. Mehmet Selim Kartal, the ambassador of the Republic of Turkey who highlighted that the North-Atlantic Alliance is an organization that promotes the liberty, and Turkey, including through the Alliance, is trying to build a democratic state based on the rule of law, because that is a guarantee of national and regional security. The ambassador also talked about the projects that the Republic of Turkey supports within the Alliance, both in the politic and military area.

The event was followed by the academic conference on the topic: “The enhancement of extremism: an emerging/unconventional threat aimed at the security of Europe”. The participants presented papers on the topic of terrorism, Islamic terrorism, the responsible institutions in combating terrorism and the legal methods of fighting it that are at the disposal of the Republic of Moldova.

The launch of the Information Point on NATO within the State University of Comrat, as well as the academic conference conducted on this occasion, were held during “NATO Week in the Republic of Moldova, 2015 edition” which IDC on NATO implements during this period.
